The population of Río Piedras in Puerto Rico, cradled his birth on Saturday, September 24, 1950. His musical inclination woke up from his youth, to integrate groups in his homeland. He then travels to New York, where he joins the Bronco Sierra orchestra.
On Thursday, January 15, 1976, he joined Sonora Matancera, to replace plant singer Welfo Gutiérrez, on the recommendation made by Yayo El Indio to Rogelio Martínez. Join the group on numerous international tours. In 1978 he recorded a success that catapulted him to the cusp in Latin America, as was the Guaracha Mala mujer, and the following year he extended his notoriety with the Fiesta page. La Sonora arrives in Colombia with Maldonado this year to reaffirm its prestige. In all the cities where he appeared, Jorge Maldonado caused a sensation with the interpretations of these two themes.
Around this time, a brother of his, Tony, seconded him in the Sonora choir. In mid-1981, Jorge Maldonado retires from the Matancera and, like many others, decides to try his luck in different directions. Initially with the Los Guajiros ensemble and with the production of Roberto Torres, he recorded an LD, which includes topics such as: I am sorry, What I like most, Driver no, umbrella stand yes, Pugilato, Qué jelengue y Vacilón. The chosen path borders the sauce, the theme of fashion. In 1986 he decided to create his own musical ensemble, to face the challenges of the fashion show. The following year, in a new LD of his inspiration, he dedicates a song To Colombia, land that Maldonado loves, because it gave him international renown. Other numbers were: Verses to my mother, I was missing you, I am the Cuban son, Love, La tangana, Arrímese you,
With his indisputable artistic wisdom, Jorge Maldonado brushes his joviality and human quality, to win the applause of the respectable and the admiration of his colleagues. His voice intact, strolls between New York and San Juan de Puerto Rico.
